1. In 2021, Greenpeace reported that one crew member onboard the Chang Tai 802 submitted a complaint with forced labor concerns involving abuse of vulnerability, physical and sexual violence, intimidation and threats, and abusive working and living conditions. That same year, a crew member spotted a team of reporters approaching and shouted, “I want to go home,” but satellite data shows that the vessel did not stop for another year.
2. In August 2019, the Chang Tai 802 dropped off a crew member suffering from kidney disease in Chimbote, Peru. His superior coerced him into flying straight home without stopping for urgent treatment in Chimbote.
