A report by a Peruvian university mentions the Pu Yuan 837 in connection to the illegal catch of jumbo squid by the fleet operating outside the

of Peru frorm 2013-2016. They put the ship in a list of frequent cases of inconsistent

records. They also say "the Pu Yuan 827 with
MMSI
900288827 and for the Pu Yuan 837 with
MMSI
400288837, both carrying out fishing activities outside the ZZE of Peru in the period 2015-2016 (Annex 6) and report an
MMSI
that does not correspond to any country, examples clear of illegality.".
