Correspondence
Email sent to the contact address for Dandong Hailong Foodstuff.
The email said: "I’m contacting you in light of our latest investigation which concerns the use of forced labor in China’s food processing industry. We have uncovered evidence that Dandong Hailong Foodstuff (丹东海龙食品有限公司) employed North Korean laborers after the December 2019 deadline for the repatriation of overseas North Korean workers required under UN Security Council Resolutions. This evidence shows North Korean workers at Dandong Hailong’s plant as recently as 2023. According to our research, Dandong Hailong’s international customers include companies in the United States, where the import of goods produced by North Koreans is prohibited. Has Dandong Hailong informed its international customers that North Korean labor is used in its supply chain? Does Dandong Hailong have any comment or statement to make in response to this email?"
The Outlaw Ocean Project emailed: "As we haven't heard back from you on this, we wanted to check if you had any comment or statement to make at this time?"
