Email sent to the contact address for Donggang Jinhui Foodstuff Co. Ltd.
The email said: "I’m contacting you in light of our latest investigation which concerns the use of forced labor in China’s food processing industry. We have uncovered evidence that Donggang Jinhui Foodstuff Co. Ltd (东港市金辉食品有限公司) employed North Korean laborers after the December 2019 deadline for the repatriation of overseas North Korean workers required under UN Security Council Resolutions. This evidence shows North Korean workers at Donggang Jinhui’s plant as recently as 2023. According to our research, Donggang Jinhui’s international customers include companies in the United States, where the import of goods produced by North Koreans is prohibited. Has Donggang Jinhui informed its international customers that North Korean labor is used in its supply chain? Does Donggang Jinhui have any comment or statement to make in response to this email?"
The Outlaw Ocean Project emailed: "We previously emailed you on November 21, 2023, to say that we had found evidence of North Korean workers at your factory in 2023. We have interviewed North Koreans who said they have worked at your factory after the UN deadline for the repatriation of overseas North Korean workers. They described being subject to sexual harassment, sexual abuse and forced prostitution while working at Donggang Jinhui. Does Donggang Jinhui have any comment to make in response to these allegations?"
