Email sent to the contact address for Donggang Luyuan Food Co. Ltd.
The email said: "I’m contacting you in light of our latest investigation which concerns the use of forced labor in China’s food processing industry. We have uncovered evidence that Donggang Luyuan Food Co. Ltd. (东港市绿苑食品有限公司) employed North Korean laborers after the December 2019 deadline for the repatriation of overseas North Korean workers required under UN Security Council Resolutions. This evidence shows North Korean workers at Donggang Luyuan’s plant as recently as 2023. According to our research, Donggang Luyuan’s international customers include companies in the United States, where the import of goods produced by North Koreans is prohibited. Has Donggang Luyuan informed its international customers that North Korean labor is used in its supply chain? Does Donggang Luyuan have any comment or statement to make in response to this email?"
