Email sent to EuroAsia Group. The email said that a company who supplied squid products for EuroAsia's MSDM range - Dandong Yuanyi - has used North Korean overseas labor after the Dec 2019 deadline required by UNSC resolution., and asked for comment.
The email said: "I’m contacting you in light of our latest investigation which concerns the use of forced labor in China’s food processing industry, and a link we’ve discovered between a company engaged in such practices and your supply chain. We have uncovered evidence that the Chinese company Dandong Yuanyi Refined Seafoods used North Korean labor after the December 2019 deadline for the repatriation of overseas North Korean workers required under United Nations sanctions. Dandong Yuanyi has supplied squid products for EuroAsia’s MSDM range. Does EuroAsia Group GmBH have any comment to make in light of the above information? Please respond to this email by close of business June 22, 2023."
Email sent to Michael Fayman, Executive Director at EuroAsia Group, saying: "We emailed you on June 16, 2023, regarding our ongoing investigation into China’s seafood processing industry. In that email, we said our investigation had uncovered evidence that the Chinese company Dandong Yuanyi Refined Seafoods used North Korean labor after the December 2019 deadline for the repatriation of overseas North Korean workers required under United Nations Security Council sanctions. According to our research, Dandong Yuanyi has supplied squid products for EuroAsia’s MSDM range. While we understand that you may not be aware of the above issues, we wish to ask if EuroAsia Group GmBH has any comment to make in light of the above information?"
