Email sent to the contact address for Zhoushan Ning Tai Ocean Fishery Co. Ltd.
The email said: "I’m writing to you in light of our latest investigation, which concerns abuses in the Chinese squid fishing industry. Our investigation has found that since 2017, squid fishing vessels owned by Zhoushan Ningtai Ocean Fishery Co. Ltd. have engaged in unregulated fishing activity, unauthorized transhipment, shark finning and hunting seals. Crew on two of the vessels complained of abusive treatment, and the dead body of a crew member of another vessel was disembarked at a South American port after he suffered beriberi-like symptoms. Does Zhoushan Ningtai Ocean Fishery Co. Ltd. have any comment or statement to make in response to this email? Please reply by close of business July 20, 2023."
Zhoushan Ning Tai's General Manager Caohy Yu sent a statement by email, saying: "I am glad, that you are not like other media union, post news directly without verify with us.
Regarding your questions, we reply as below: All IUU activities will be reported and recorded by SPRFMO organization. We are the professional fishing company, till yet, we don't have any IUU bad records by any of the fishery organization. if you don't believe, you can login SPRFMO website to check. https://www.sprfmo.int We also concern the crews from other countries join our company, we take good care of them, and offer free medicine and emergency medical helps all the same and Chinese crew members. You can see some photo we attached.
For my idea, we have a big fleet in management, you only mentioned in your e-mails, we would like to know which Vessel name? When Happened? If you can not offer the evidence, how can we check by ourselves. In last month a media also sent us similar email, but in the finially, that vessel under Ningtai Name, but not ever belong to our company.

We protect the marine environment and marine protected organisms, protect marine ecology and cherish fishery resources. At the same time, we care about the crews, try to create a "safe,equal and caring" working environment and protect the interests of the seafarers. The company also enclosed photographs of returned foreign crew from some of its vessels being welcomed by the company.
